Reggae.com up for Sale

The owners of Reggae.com have announced for the first time in its history, the top category music and lifestyle domain name REGGAE.com is on the auction block at the live auction conducted by Moniker® and SnapNames® at the DOMAINFest® One-Day Power Networking Event on Wednesday, August 18 at The Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York, NY.  Live Bidding Begins Wednesday, August 18 at 4:00 pm ET.

The domain name is appealing to potential buyers due to the expected expansion of music sales on the internet, as well as the fact that reggae is a “lifestyle” concept as much as a popular music genre.  According to a 2010 eMarketer study, “US consumer spending on digital music will increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.04% in the next four years, reaching $4.56 billion in 2013, up from $3 billion in 2009.”

Furthermore, the continuing influence of reggae music was clearly demonstrated by the June 8 release of “The Disney Reggae Club”.  The Disney CD’s executive producer Brian Malouf stated, "Reggae is so joyous and spirited, we knew these songs would lend themselves perfectly.”  REGGAE.com was a promotional partner for the release.
