Plans are currently underway for the staging of the Caribbean USA Business, Travel and Cultural Expo to be held on Saturday August 29th, 2009 at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan, New York. The Expo has as its theme ‘Showcasing the best and rich diversity of our Caribbean Community in the heart of the Big Apple’.
Caribbean USA Business, Travel and Cultural Expo will be a dynamic and diverse blend of art, business, bridal, culture, fashion, food, travel, music and entertainment. It will feature exhibitors from both the International Caribbean community and the United States. Caribbean USA Expo will also host a series of Caribbean Business networking and exhibitor educational success training workshops in 2009. These educational workshops will serve to highlight Caribbean American Heritage Month in June. It will serve as the launch of the Caribbean celebrations in New York.
The Caribbean Expo will be held a week prior to the annual New York West Indian Labor Day Carnival parade which will be held on Monday, September 7th, 2009 hosted by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA). The Caribbean Expo will serve as a prelude to New York’s annual West Indian American Labor Day Carnival parade, and will support the influx of over 3 million visitors who visit the New York area by providing additional entertainment during the week leading up to the cultural festivities. Our target market will attract those who enjoy the finer things in life - travel, shopping, entertainment, culture, arts, fashion, fine dining, music etc. Our main objective is to make the week leading up to Labor Day weekend a true Caribbean celebration, beginning with the Caribbean Expo, therefore exposing our rich Caribbean culture to a wider audience including those who don’t necessarily attend or participate in the annual NY West Indian Labor Day Carnival parade.
Several companies have already committed to sponsorship of the Caribbean Expo and it is expected that over 100 exhibit booths will be on display during the event. Exhibitors will include companies from throughout the Caribbean and across the United States. The Caribbean Expo will also feature a Taste of the Caribbean showcasing a diverse array of Caribbean food and vendors. There will also be an added emphasis on showcasing the Caribbean culture portrayed via carnival costumes, dancers, steel drums, jazz, tassa drumming etc. Attendees can look forward to experiencing the special vibes of the Caribbean as captured in the wonderful cultural aspect of this Caribbean Expo right in the heart of the Big Apple.
